Greater is He – than he that is running for president!
‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD’ Psalm 33:12
As a believer, I know true and lasting change can/will happen in our nation and the world when the power of Jesus Christ changes peoples hearts. Are you passionate to see Biblical principles upheld in our country? On Thursday, November 1, 2012, American people will have the opportunity to participate in National Day of Prayer. This is happening only 5 days from election day. Many, many thousands of people have been praying for this election, grouped with thousands of ministries across the country; believers have earnestly participated in a forty-day prayer emphasis that began on September 28 and ends November 6. As we stand on the doorstep of this important election, daily the news media calls to mind so many reasons we need God in our lives and country, why we need America restored again. The concerns are many, from peace in Jerusalem, global climate change, to economic and military concerns. Are you bold enough to pray, sincerely pray for that restoration? There are those who say, ‘This is the end time and God is going to do what He wants to bring about the end’. While it is true that certain things must occur, where does that leave all the scriptures that hold promises for the believer? We have guaranteed expectations of God’s answers when we pray. Below are several Scriptures intended to build your faith, I hope you will seek the LORD for the wisdom He promises.
We can pray in faith, ‘If My people which are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.’ [2 Chronicles 7:14] ‘Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.’ [Matthew 18:19] ‘Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’ [Hebrews 11:1]
America’s motto is ‘In God We Trust’. All around us symbols of Christianity are being removed from public gathering places. How can we know our trust, America’s trust, in God is not futile? ‘For the Lord loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.’ [Psalm 37:28] ‘Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.’ [1 John 5:14] ‘Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.’ [Isaiah 54:15] ‘So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’ [Hebrews 13:6] ‘As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him.’ [Psalm 103:13] ‘Then you will call and the LORD will answer. You will cry for help and He will say: ‘Here am I.” [Isaiah 58:9] ‘I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.’ [Psalm 32:8] ‘I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.’ [Proverbs 8:17]
If God has removed His hedge of protection from us, if we are living in judgment and/or delusion, can He repent? ‘For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights’ [Proverbs 3:12] ‘For He bruises, but He binds up; He wounds, but His hands make whole.’ [Job 5:18] ‘(for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.’ [Deuteronomy 4:31] ‘The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.’ [Proverbs 12:24]
Can we prevail when odds against us seem insurmountable? ‘Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”’ [Mark 9:23] ‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord..’ [Isaiah 54:17] ‘For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.’ [Psalm 125:3] ‘In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you.’ [Isaiah 54:14] The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has a refuge in his death.’ [Proverbs 14:32]
What should our attitude be if we have ‘been weighed in the balance and found wanting’? ‘God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling.’ [Psalm 46:1-3] ‘I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ [Philippians 4:12,13] ‘He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant.’ [Psalm 111:5] ‘Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on..’ [Luke 12:22]
If someone thinks all they have to do is start spouting Scripture and they are going to be able to make a difference in their life or someone else’s, well, you are wrong. These promises are for God’s children, the righteous. If you don’t know Jesus Christ as Savior, read these Scriptures, and claim Him as your own. ; )
